Sheringham Park, Norfolk
All WalksSheringham Park has around 1,000 acres of parkland, woodland and clifftop areas to explore. This easy-to-follow route is our favourite, though you can easily extend it to add on a walk to the coast path. The park is famous for its large collection of rhododendrons and azaleas, which you’ll pass on the later stage of this route, and be sure to look out towards the sea as you come out of the woodland as you might catch a steam train passing by!
The best way to arrive at Sheringham Park is by car, as there is a National Trust-owned car park (fees apply to non-members). Sheringham Park welcomes dogs, but they must remain on a lead at all times in designated areas and throughout the estate between 1 March and 31 July to protect ground nesting birds. There are dog waste bins along the Main Drive and close to the car park, so be sure to pick up after your dog and take any bags with you until you reach a bin.
The terrain is a mix of dirt path and woodland track, with paved paths close to the visitor centre. Look out for wildlife as you walk, including a wide variety of birds and butterflies as well as three species of deer. There are cattle grazing in certain areas so be sure to keep dogs close. This walk is delightful at any time of year, with the woodland providing shade in the sunshine while the long stretches over fields give you sweeping views over the Norfolk coast.
The Courtyard Café has outdoor seating where dogs are welcome, and you can rest your feet after your walk with a range of drinks, sandwiches, light snacks and delicious cakes.
