Great Britain’s Wood, Sevenoaks
All WalksThis walk is perfect for letting dogs and kids stretch their legs! Beginning and ending with a stroll through residential Sevenoaks, the main part of this route takes you on the tree-lined pathways at Great Britain’s Wood. There are various tracks to take, so feel free to adapt this route as you explore!
We’ve marked the beginning of this walk as Sevenoaks station, as there are not a lot of inexpensive or spacious parking spots in the centre of town. There are a handful of on-street spaces on Brittains Lane, near to the footpath where you enter the woodland, but there’s no guarantee you’ll be able to get a space here. The route is an easy one, beginning with some pavement walking from Sevenoaks station taking you to Kippington Road. While there is no pavement on Kippington, it’s a private street with speed bumps so there’s very little traffic and you’ll be able to walk safely along the road. Once you’ve entered the woods there are a variety of paths you can take – we’ve highlighted our favourite route on our map, though you can easily extend or shorten this walk by taking different turns.
We love to take dogs for walkies here when we house sit in the area, as they can roam off lead and zoom through the trees! There are no poo bins here, so ensure you take your bags with you. The woodland paths are easy underfoot, though it can get muddy in Winter as it’s heavily shaded – this means it’s perfect for Summer as there are also streams and rivers along the way for dogs to cool off.
Exiting the woodland you’ll follow Brittains Lane and Braeside Avenue – two residential roads with pavements – until you reach the main road and head back towards Sevenoaks station. There are no facilities on this route as the only toilets at Sevenoaks station are positioned inside the barriers, so are only accessible if you’re taking a train for your onward journey. There’s a Lidl supermarket on London Road if you need to stop in for post-walk snacks or drinks, and The Halfway House pub just next door opens from midday.
