We’ve been travelling the UK full time since 2018, covering a lot of areas on foot as we walk dogs with our pet sitting business, or take breaks in our campervan to enjoy hiking through the countryside. Here you’ll find our favourite walks (and dog-friendly walkies!) with useful maps and information to help you discover your new favourite walks, no matter where you are in the UK.

Winnie the Pooh sites on the Ashdown Forest
This easy to follow route takes you to all the Winnie the Pooh sites in the 100 Acre Wood! Including the A. A. Milne memorial, Piglet’s House, Pooh Sticks Bridge and more, ending at Pooh Corner cafe for a cup of tea from a Winnie the Pooh shaped teapot!

Box Hill Juniper Top Circular Walk
Box Hill hiking car park
Box Hill is a walker’s paradise! This loop route to Juniper Top and back is easy to follow, with stunning viewpoints and shaded woodland to enjoy a gentle stroll through the trees.
1066 Country Walk – full route
Pevensey Castle
This walk follows the full 1066 Country Walk, through areas of the East Sussex countryside that witnessed the Norman Conquest. The route links significant places throughout the year 1066 – from Pevensey where William of Normandy prepared his army to meet King Harold, to Rye, passing through Battle where the Battle of Hastings took place. A walk full of rich history and stunning countryside views.
1066 Country Walk stage 3 – Three Oaks to Rye
Three Oaks station
The third and final stage of the official 1066 Country Walk. Expect mostly flat fields and some pavement walking as you pass through characterful villages like Icklesham and Winchelsea, spotting 3 of the 1066 sculptures along the way.
1066 Country Walk stage 2 – Battle to Three Oaks
Battle Abbey Gatehouse, Battle
The second stage of the official 1066 Country Walk. Beginning at Battle Abbey, you’ll head into Battle Great Wood, wind through fields and Sedlescombe Golf Club to the small village of Westfield, and spot 2 of the 1066 Country Walk sculptures en route.
1066 Country Walk stage 1 – Pevensey to Battle
Pevensey Castle
The first stage of the official 1066 Country Walk. Beginning at Pevensey Castle, you’ll wind through the flat marshland at Pevensey Levels, past Hertsmonceux and the quaint houses at Brownbread Street, before ending at the historic Battle Abbey. The terrain is varied, through woodlands, along dirt paths and undulating fields. There’s an abundance of wildlife to spot, as well as 5 of the 1066 Country Walk sculptures.

This route became our go-to dog walk while pet sitting nearby, as we love how peaceful the trails are here! You can easily go off route to explore the ancient woodlands, and enjoy a gentle stroll in nature.
Laughter Tor and Bellever Tor
Bellever car park, Yelverton
This walk really shows off Dartmoor’s natural beauty. While it’s not the easiest, your efforts will be rewarded with sweeping panoramic views across the moors and Bellever Forest, as well as sightings of wild ponies grazing. Bellever Tor is the real highlight of this route and worth the ascent to reach the top!
Rye circular
Gibbet Marsh car park, Rye
Visiting Rye is like stepping back in time, with its cobbled streets and historic landmarks. This short loop takes you to characterful points of interest including the famous Mermaid Street, the defensive Landgate, and the Church of St. Mary.
Holt Country Park circular
Holt Country Park, Norfolk
Holt Country Park covers 100 acres of mixed woodland, and is bursting with wildlife and interesting attractions including wooden sculptures and a viking longhouse. This easy route follows the widest loop of the Park, perfect for dog walks and family days out.
