Travel
Since giving up our flat in 2018 to live nomadically, we’ve honed our travel essentials down to a small but mighty collection. These products are our ultimate must-haves for a stress-free life on the road!
Trusted Housesitters
We can’t thank Trusted Housesitters enough for starting our pet sitting and full time travel journey back in 2017! If you’re looking to spend time with animals AND travel the world, use this link to receive 25% off your membership.
JoinNational Trust
Being National Trust members gives us free access to some of the most beautiful parklands and properties across the UK! Investing in membership even just for a year is definitely worth it.
JoinPeak Design packing cubes
We love using packing cubes to keep all our clothes organised, especially when we’re moving from our van into a house sit. These Peak Design cubes have an extender zip, and a smaller area on the bottom to separate dirty clothes from clean ones!
ViewApple AirTag (4 pack)
These little trackers from Apple have so many uses and are easy to sync with your iPhone to find items you’ve misplaced. We use them for our van keys, our wallets, and we even have a spare that we can clip onto a dog’s collar when we’re out on walkies while pet sitting – just in case!
ViewYeti tumbler
You’ll likely have seen Yeti cups before – from campervan dashboards to travel YouTubers – and there’s a reason! These hard-wearing insulated cups are unmatched in quality and durability. We love that they fit perfectly in most cup holders too!
ViewKlean Kanteen
We’ve owned Klean Kanteens for years – even before we started house sitting! Our bottles are still not showing any signs of wear and tear. They’re durable and lightweight, and can easily be clipped onto a bag when dog walking or hiking.
ViewStasher Snack Pack
This Silicone snack bag is the perfect, environmentally friendly, way to carry nuts, seeds, dried fruit and any other small snack when walking a dog or hiking up a mountain. Simply fill it up, seal it closed and chuck it in a bag and you are ready! Chris makes sure to always bring this on long walks, just in case for when Suze gets snacky!
Garmin Fenix watch
We both have Garmin Fenix watches as we love to record all the dog walks, hikes, runs and other activities that we do! It’s easy to sync up this watch with your smartphone to analyse all the data too.
ViewSuri Toothbrush
We made the switch from manual to electric toothbrushes and haven’t looked back. We love that we can pack one cable to charge both our toothbrushes, and can activate the ultraviolet deep clean mode to cleanse our brushes and cases of bacteria while charging. Super smart and lightweight too!
ViewAnker Portable Battery
For busy days out and about, or for reassurance on long hikes, we always carry at least one portable battery with us to ensure we can always charge our phones. We’ve used Anker batteries for years as they’re light to carry in a bag and super reliable, with no signs of wear!
ViewRechargeable USB Fan
This small but mighty fan is super handy for travelling! It comes with a cable to recharge the batteries so you don’t have to keep buying new ones, it has a sturdy base to stand on tables as well as a clamp to attach the fan at any angle, and the speed is fully adjustable!
ViewUltimate Ears Wonderboom 3
This speaker is little but powerful, with 360 degree sound! It’s waterproof and durable, with a loop to hang it from anywhere. We use it in our van and take it to every one of our house sits as it’s small enough to easily pack in a bag. Simply sync up to your phone via Bluetooth and enjoy.
ViewFoldable USB Charger
This quick charging wall plug has two USB-C and two USB-A ports and the prongs neatly fold in allowing it to take up very little room. This plug replaces our laptop charger and phone charger as it can provide 65W of power meaning these devices can charge super quickly!
ViewMulti port charger
We bought this ultra sleek multi-port charger after completing so many pet sits in older houses where there were too few wall outlets to charge all our gear! Similarly we found hotel rooms never had enough outlets. This charger plugs into the wall and has four ports (2 USB-A and 2 USB-C) for charging multiple devices simultaneously, including our laptops, all from one outlet!
ViewInsta360 GO 2
We LOVE this tiny portable camera! We attach it to ourselves using the accompanying magnetic necklace when we timelapse hikes, and it can fit on a dog harness to capture live dog cam footage of our walkies! A must-have for travellers, for a unique way to capture every adventure from your perspective!
ViewJoby tripod with clicker
For quick portraits of us together, without having to unpack our camera gear, we clip one of our phones into this handy pocket-sized tripod. The clicker connects to your phone via Bluetooth so you don’t have to run back and forth setting up timers! The tripod is easily adjustable and magnetic feet mean you can set it up anywhere – around a tree, on a fence, once we even hung ours from a chandelier!
ViewDJI Mini 3 Pro drone
The DJI drone we invested in back in 2017 is no longer for sale, but if we were to buy a new one this updated version would be the one we’d choose! DJI are the leading drone manufacturer and their drones are fantastic – they are incredibly easy to fly so we can take wonderful travel photographs and videos from the air!
ViewNintendo Switch
We invested in a Nintendo Switch each so we can play games on the road, on long travel days. We also love bringing the dock to house sits, so we can plug into the TV and play together!
ViewApple AirPods Pro (2nd generation)
The ultimate wireless earphones from Apple. Super travel friendly as they’re small and come in a sleek and lightweight case that charges each earphone when stored. The noise-cancelling is so efficient that we can easily work or enjoy music no matter where we are.
ViewApple TV
An Apple TV lets us log into all our streaming accounts – Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ etc. – in one small, portable device. Wherever we go, we can plug in our Apple TV and instantly watch anything through our accounts, meaning we don’t have to log into someone else’s, and can start watching straight away!
ViewiPad stand
This little stand is strong enough to hold an iPad upright, is adjustable so you can tilt the iPad to the right angle, and folds in on itself
ViewMatador foldable blanket
This lightweight picnic blanket is the perfect travel companion! It has lines sewn into the mat so you’ll always know how to pack it away, and once folded fits into the palm of your hand! We love using it for picnics on the road, on the beach or in the countryside.
ViewMicrofibre towel
We love these huge towels from Mountain Warehouse. The light microfibre material is super soft and absorbent – we use them after showering or swimming when we’re spending days in the van, then hang them up in our cab and they’re dry in no time! They pack down small too, making them great for travelling.
ViewHead torch
Whether we’re out for night time walkies while pet sitting, or a hike takes a little longer than we planned… We keep this bright head torch in our bag just in case! As it’s small it doesn’t take up much space and we don’t have to rely on our phones being charged to use a torch!
ViewHi vis arm bands
For late night dog walks, or long hikes into the evening, we attach these reflective velcro bands to our arms and bags. We make sure we’re visible from all angles with the placement of these bands to alert drivers, horse riders and other walkers to our presence in low light, ensuring we’re safe while out and about.
ViewFirst aid kit
No matter where you’re travelling, owning a well-equipped first aid kit means you’re prepared for minor injuries, sudden illnesses or emergencies. It’s especially essential if you’re on a road trip in an unfamiliar place, or remote areas where you may find yourself far away from the nearest pharmacy, doctor or hospital.
ViewBooks + Games
When we’re not moving from place to place we love to carve out some down time to play games, physical or virtual, or relax with a book – even if it’s a guidebook helping us plan our next adventure!
